DeTune Question

If an engine can make more power more efficiently than it does in its stock form, why are they detuned from the factory?

emissions and reliability.
You can make a little gasser scream, but one wrong condition and you have aluminum confetti.
My guess is Dodge detuned to keep the rest of the drivetrain in one piece. Look how many people go through trannys now, Dodge doesn't want to buy everyone two or three new ones. They could get components that would take the power but that would cost more and they would have to develop whole new logistics chains. (not good for the profit margin)
