Is this a decent deal?
 

Ok guys, Im just curious to know if you think this is a decent deal, or if I should go ahead with my plans to buy a new rig. First a little background, before I give you my two choices in rigs. The truck will be my daily driver, and it will be used to haul a fairly stout 20' car trailer wiht my jeep on it. Now here are my two choices.

I found a rig, an 03 3500 2wd, QC, with the cummins, automatic, dually.. Just about everything I want. It is used, with 10,000 miles on it. Asking price is 28,990, and I can probably get it out the door for that much.

Option two is to buy a new CTD 2500 with a 6 spd (the tranny Id really want)... the new CTD would be a QC, single rear wheel, 2wd, long bed SLT.. so it wouldnt be fully loaded, but its about all I wanna spend on a truck, and I can probably get it for 30k out the door. Which would you pick?

I'd pay the extra 1000 and get the new one, which seems to be the one you want anyway. Plus it will get better mpg than the dually and still pull your set up just fine

Yep get the new one. If you get the other and regret it in 6 months it will either haunt you or you will flog it and get what you want, costing you more.

Thats what Im thinking too guys.. I will be sure to let you know which way I go with it. I will be talking to fleet about it tommorow.

id say go for the new rig w/ the 6 spd.

Just had the same sort of quandry myself. It cost me a couple thousand $ more but I got the tranny I wanted and 29 miles on the truck instead of 18,000. Now I can do the mods I want and not the ones someone else started. Of course mods come down the road as I also got all the truck I could afford.

The tranny is something you'll kick yourself in the pants about for a long time if you settle for what you think is second best.

Dieleljunkie, looks like a pretty good deal to me. I paid a little more than that in 2002 for mine(new) but it was 4x4. Other than that it looks pretty comparible. I'd say your are doing ok and not getting hurt. CJ
