That's why Cummins is #1. Do read the Cummins vs Cat comparisons.

[laugh] Thats a good one! So what is Cummins #1 in besides marketing spin?

Cat doesn't seem to be willing to roll over and play dead. see attached statement from Cat.

Caterpillar is the first engine manufacturer to offer both medium – and heavy-duty truck and bus engines that meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s more stringent 2004 emissions standards. Caterpillar is the leading manufacturer and supplier of truck and bus engines in the combined medium – and heavy-duty categories in North America, holding the lead position in engine shipments to vehicle manufacturers since 1999.

Cat can lie all it wants. It didn't meet the ULSD emmissions requirements, in fact it had to appeal to the EPA for an extention. It's engines will weigh four to six HUNDRED pounds more than the Cummins.

Re:cummins info on VGT and EGR

[laugh] You must work for Cummins marketing! All of Cat's ON Highway engines are EPA certified AND compliant for 2004. Is Cummins? Is Detroit? What are you even talking about that Cummins engines will way 600 lbs less that Cat. What models? The referenced Cummins Vs Cat comparison on Cummins web site is laughable. I don't mind an honest comparison. I have to do that every day for a living. But at least get the facts right. Can you honestly say that you think that having exhaust gas recycled back into the combustion chamber is BETTER than not having exhaust gas recycled back into the combustion chamber? BTW you still didn't say what Cummins was #1 in.

Lets not allow this to wander too far off topic. We dont want to see this become a brand bashing thread.

I encourage a good discussion, but keep it based on facts.

Thanks
Rich.

Re:cummins info on VGT and EGR

Cummins promised and did deliver engines to meet the new EPA standards a full year before any other manufacturer.

At the bottom, click on the link for the cert date.
And, no I don't work for Cummins or any other engine mfgr or any auto or truck company. The family has been driving with Cummins power for more than fifty-five years.

Very interesting about the turbo. Now, I just wish they had come out with it on my truck. [laugh]

Did I miss something or did the movie clip say, "Coming in 2002"? If I heard correctly, why should I be excited about this old news?
