Coolant temp and EGT's

Not sure where to pose this question so in here it goes.Since the exhaust gases are measured exiting the engine, does higher egt's affect the temp showing for the coolant. It seems an increase in exhaust temps would also show an increase in your coolant temp. Is there any correlation between the two?

Yes there is I think. I don't think it's very significant though because most people don't run that hot of EGT's for that long. I hope.
