Chrysler losing Ram trucks....to Cummins???

With Chrysler filing for bankruptcy, is it likely that Dodge, Jeep will get divided up and sold off? I ask this because of an article I read that proposed Cummins would buy the Ram truck line and assembly plants if Chrysler broke apart. At first I thought this would be unlikely, but now I really wonder......

I doubt it will happen, but that would be kind of cool.

I doubt Cummins wants to go that direction.

I wouldn't think Cummins would go this route either. But if Cummins can build a truck like they build their engines then we'll never have to buy new trucks again.

Since the United Auto Workers now owns the majority of Chrysler I doubt they'll sell off Dodge Trucks or Jeep, their most profitable lines.
It would be stupid.
UAW holds a bigger share of Chrysler now than Fiat followed by a smaller percentage owned by the US and Canadian governments.

Boy would that ever be AWESOME if Cummins built 2500 and 3500 trucks (forget the 1/2 tons)!!! Can you imagine the tranny they would have behind them? No more slush box transmissions and they would put a front under them that would actually go more than 40,000 miles...

Then they would go the way of International Harvster.
Build it too well, and you have no return customers.

I can't wait until the contract expires and the Union & Obama tells the workers they will no be getting a raise as the company is not making money. So long as the government & union has its fingers in the business the workers will be lucky to get a cost of living raise in the next 15 years.

My view of this whole mess is BANKRUPTCY! Cut every employee loose CEO's on down, have employee's invest in company reopen with NO UNION,NO GOVERNMENT CONTROL and see how they make or break the company. The union is 85% of the problem! That's just my opinion! I used to be a teamster and they put the screws to me.The unions had a purpose years ago. They now have no purpose other than to protect lazy employee's and negotiate themselves out of a job. Sorry if I stepped on toes but that is reality!

Chrysler isn't going anywhere. To quote the head idiot in the white house, "Chrysler will emerge from bankruptsy stronger than ever." In other words, the gov't will use tax payer money to pay off all Chrysler's debt. Then small part makers will be forced to provide parts to Chrysler at a fraction of the cost so they can keep making vehicles that no one wants, and the UAW workers can still get paid.

Bad companies deserve to fail. If I made buckets of crap, and no one wanted them, would the gov't help me out. No, I don't have a large union force to vote on the next election.

Times are strange,

Very true, up until last September I was cutting 7 acres of grass with an IH Cub. Also, the IH 340 I have still gets worked regularly.

I have a 1941 Farmall H that still runs like a dream. I would LOVE to have a CUMMINS truck. It would be well WORTH the $60K we throw at them today. Instead, we get right at $20K worth of truck and half of that is the engine's value. Don't get me wrong, we still have the BETTER of all the trucks out there, and I DO like the overall Dodge styling over GM/Ford.

it amazes me that companies can lose billions and billions and stay in business, stock investors are left holding their "crank" lol, in their hands. answer, I would not invest in any publicly traded co. on the planet, I've been saying this for 10 years, people like us, conservatives.... you want to invest ? learn how to trade commodities like corn wheat, oil, gas, etc. something real that is market predictable, hell we're farmers, mechanics etc. we are in the mix of it.
