Checking rear axle straightness???

I'd guess that is possible. Its only straight in one spot, any bend would show double by wobbling the shaft at the other end I'm thinking

We have been checking for bent axle using our alignment machine, but if axle is not bolted to truck spinning hub should work for a quick check. We recently changed front axle because we were unable to get alignment into spec. New truck under warranty.

That would work for the axle shaft, but not the housing. If the shaft is bent, it will wobble. The housing can be bent without any wobble.

Providing there is not excessive play in the wheel bearings, the hub just takes the place of your lathe.
