Farm show magazine ran a story a couple of years ago of a guy that deliviered trailers all over the north america with a first gen that had 1.8 million on it. He used amsoil synthetic in it and did oil changes at 32k. If memory serves me right he went through 2 exhuast systems, and a water pump. Stuck to the manual for service intervals on everthing. Sold it to a buddy of his because the new ones had nicer seats!

Are you sure Amsoil didn't run that "story?"

We have an 89 7.3 IDI with over 500K. Speedo broke about 5 yrs ago at 380k. My CTD only has 69.5K on it. My brother is a diesel tech and he worked on a CTD that had 1.5 Million miles on it. dont know for sure the year but i think it was a sec gen that was used for cross country hauling. i just hope i can get 500k outta my engine. that would be nice since its all mileage after it was pulled out of a tractor and redone.

My dad is a mechanic for a bus company, many of their smaller buses have the "B"s in em, Most have over 600,000 miles on em and thats in a bus! One even lost oil pressure once so they the fixed the problem and its still running today without a rebuild at over 600,000 miles.

I have a GM Z71 beater truck with 420k on it's 5.7 gas engine, I only change the timing gears and chain at 200k. I haven't changed the transfercase, or diff. oil since 75k., I imagine it looks like mud by now. If any one is wondering which oil I used, it's Mobil1 syn..

Alot of miles

My boss has driven two Ford Trucks ; one was an 82 and the other is a 2000. The 82 had 626,000 when he turned it into a shop truck. His current F-350 has 316,000 miles on it and has only had minor repair work on the rear axle and front suspension. The engine has had no problems.
The 82 was standard and the only repair was a clutch. Bothe Diesels.

I hate to talk about Fords, but I have now convinced him to buy an 06' Mega Cab which we pickup Monday.

When I was 16 my dad passed down his '90 F150 work truck with the 300 I6 in it to me (He bought a 7.3L PJoke). It had almost 400K on it when I got it. I put another 90K on it and when I traded it in I actually got $1500 for it! The dealer didn't believe me when I told them the mileage. I had a reman head and complete valvetrain sitting on the shelf for it, but it ran fine so I never touched it. I tossed the head after I got my Dodge.

Dad's '97 F350 now has a tad over 350K with only injectors, HEUI pump, and it's first water pump this past April.

Mine is knocking on the door of 200K, I should hit that by the middle of next week as I think I'm at 199,339 right now.
