What is the best site to get a BLUE BOOK price?<br><br>I stopped yesterday and looked at a truck for sale on the side of the road. I know who owns the truck, and what it was used for.<br><br>it is a 1997 Dodge 2500 4x4, Reg. Cab CTD(of course), 5 Speed, Red, ST Package. 149k miles.<br><br>now, the truck is in great exterior and interior condition, and im gonna go drive it today just for kicks.<br><br>the owner told me over the phone that he wants 14k for it. but at kelley BB, it says 10k<br><br><br>is the guy a little steep on his price, or am I just underestimating. he said a dealer told him he would give 13,500 for the truck. i was kinda thinking he shoulda took that dealer up on his offer!

I haven't been looking that much, but when I do buy, I would like to get a 00'-01' model and I was just wondering what to expect.

You can also try edmunds.com. <br><br>The $14k price sounds high to me. Here in Ohio, Dodges do not hold resale value as well as Chevy or Ford. Also, because of all the new trucks that have sold in the last year or so (due to all the great dealer incentives) the prices on used trucks have dropped like a rock.<br><br>I have a 94 Dodge 2500 4x4 auto with the CTD. It is in fine shape too. It's retail blue book is only around $9500. If I were selling it now I would probably only ask $9250 OBO. A 97 with a regular cab, manual transmission, and that many miles is not worth $14k in my opinion. Offer the guy $10500 and see what he says.<br><br>Good luck

Ill offer him 9,000 cash. If he says no, ill just wait him out a few weeks, and see if he decides to drop. i doubt anyone around will give him 14k for it.

Well I don't know guy's, in my area those trucks still bring top dollar. I just sold my 97' 1-ton flatbed 5-speed 4x4 with 129,000 on it. The truck was highly modified and had 6 new tires a new tranny and clutch, and new brakes on it, it was mint. I got $15,500 for it. I also just sold my 99' 1-ton quad cab, 4x4 5-speed, flatbed, with a pacbrake and 84,000 miles on it for $21,200. I got a 94' 3/4 ton reg cab, 5-speed with 220,000 on the ticker but it has a little tranny noise in 2nd gear(original tranny). The truck has never had a gooseneck or fifth wheel in it but it has been used a lot. Just be a good ol farm truck or a fun project if you don't have a bunch of cash. I'd take $6,000 for it. Kelley blue book sucks. It is the dealers worst nightmare. I jsut had a guy last week who wanted to trade vans with me, he had a 94' grand caravan base model with well over 100k on the ticker and kelley blue book told him it was worth 3500-4,000 :o [laugh] [eyecrazy]I see vans like taht every week sell at the auction for 500-1,000. And to top it off he wanted to buy mine for $200 under invoice. Ya that'll work, sell mine for less than cost and give twice what retail is for his, I'll stay in bussiness a long time taht way [eyecrazy] [eyecrazy] [eyecrazy]

Around here CTD's are HIGH you dont see them very often for under 14000 unless they have some crazy high miles or need some work or something there is a foreman here at work that has a standing offer of 18500 dollars for my truck which is<br>1997 Ram2500 CTD(obviously) 5spd 4x4 black regular cab SLT all options except leather (which i dont think you can get on a std cab) 63K miles absolutley mint condition inside and out 4.10 rear mild modifications new tires... I know i should take it but i like it too darn much i dont think i could be happier with a brand new 03 cummins! But anyhow around here yo udont see 2nd Gen CTD's for cheap i have never saw one for under 13k well once for 12900 but that is close enough lol 1st gen's around here sell for 9000 every now and then 10k usually between 8k and 9k though!

I got my 98 12V shortbed QC 5spd 63k miles for $19,000. I called everywhere within the northwest and Dave Smith Auto was by far the very best deal. They are out of Kellog Idaho, I would strongly recommend them to anyone. They are the biggest truck dealer in the world.

Honestly, Reguardless of what the Blue Books are saying... people simply are not letting their Cummins go for cheap. Period. Yeah these prcies are high compared to the blue book.... but that's simply because people aren't selling them cheap. I looked for 6 months before I found my truck right at $11,880. w/ 107K And that was with a bad tranny and rear-end.

I stopped and drove this truck yesterday. definately not worth 14k in my opinion. It needs a new clutch, valve cover gaskets, and there is a whine in the tranny.<br><br>i also didnt like the 4:10 rearend. engine rean good though. paint was good and interior was good enough. I really want a truck like 97CTD has, but its hard to find a good one.
