B series engine question

I was wondering if the b3.9 (125) engine is suitable for automotive use. Also, how common is it, and possible applications (where could I find one ?)

Re:B series engine question

It sure is. I've seen pix of one in a Jeep Wrangler, an IH Scout, and heard of one installed in a Chevy p/u. The 3.9 isn't as common as the 5.9, good places to look would be bread truck type vehicles, also FedEx/UPS trucks have used this engine.

Re:B series engine question

IMO it depends on wehat you wanna run it in. If you plan on puttnig into a car, you might try another engine. The 4B is a vibrating, shaking pile of bolts. it generally will shake apart everything behind it innthe tranny world for cars.

The are totally different in the bottom end than a 6B. They have countershafts to deal with the vibration but they still vibrate quite a bit.

Jeeps and rockcrawlers, etc are good candiddates for the 4B

Re:B series engine question

I am thinking of one of those for my toyota pick up, turning it into a hunting buggy. Striping it down to just the frame and cab, putting 40" boggers on it. Someone at work said I should use the little B. Great crawling eng., and fuel. Still undesided :-
