General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Anyone a mercedes diesel guru or know of a good message board on them?

I have a friend in Corpus Cristie who has a Mercedes and has become a decent authority on them. His email is: brujan@the-i.net His name is Bruce Buchanan. He's also an HVAC guru.

I could have used some help from a mercedes guru a few days ago. A friend of mine died a couple of weeks ago and his wife called me because her diesel wouldn't shut down. She didn't have a service manual and I looked around for a shutoff solenoid. I stopped it with the manual lever and kept looking everywhere to figure out how it's supposed to be shut down. Finally I took the dash apart and found that there are two vacuum hoses that come off of the ignition switch... interesting. Plugged those in and now it shuts down but it takes about 30-45 seconds. Still doesn't seem right to me but she's happy that it shuts down.
