Yeah the 65,000 is low, but that is what I got from the announcer. The audio is muffled a bit, but I listened to it several times. "Soixante cinq mille livres", which is 65,000 pounds. Possibly each trailer.

Quebec is like the U.S. where they use Metric and SAE. I have been to some gas stations that they had gallons, other times liters.

I grew up in Maine not even an hour from Quebec and you can bet we were there often... drinking age?? what's that?

kilogram = 143,300lbs. Also we have trucks that haul lumber 5 days a week (and owned a lumberyard for about 20yrs) and that is a LONG way from 65k. 65k per trailer sounds more believable either way the speed at the top is impressive.

Here is another one:

Back in the day I drove Large Cars, (Big Trucks do what they can...Large Cars do what YOU want them to) late at night trashin around bobtailin you would occasionally catch a hot car at the light. They sit there revving there little engines, not thinking I was sitting in a ride that is capable of pullin the grapevine at 60 mph with 80 grand on my donkey. I would put her in 5'th keep the rpms up...light hits green...800 ponies pullin a 14,000 lb Pete would launch me to 7'th...9'th 11'th...and I am Bye Bye.

Funny how on Eric Bouchard's webpage (owner of that truck) one of his team mates is labeled "Programmer" and I don't see Caterpillar as one of his sponsors. I guess some of those mechanics should tell that guy "you can't do that"!

The T800 Kenworth in the first video posted by "dieselfuelonly" is a series 60 Detroit.
You're not the first person Ive heard that from... I guess its unwillingness or dont know how to re-rate one. I don't personally work on OTR engines, but I KNOW it can be done. There are certain situations where it would be unwise to fuel one though, such as if the truck or any part of the drivetrain is still under warranty. Transmission and differential manufacturers, and OEM's package a particular engine, rated at "X" hp and torque@"X" RPM, to a clutch that handles that spec., then the same for the gearbox, driveline, and differential(s). Parts capable of holding +200 hp. over that cost more to package, thereby driving up the sales price. Guess hat I'm saying is theres not alot of room for additional hp.
You turn up the Cat, Cummins, Detroit....etc.... Then you start breaking warranty gearboxes and differentials, the OEM gets mad.

Oh I fully agree on the warranty issue, and I'm not saying that every dealer should do extreme modifications. I know you can get WAY above what cat says just by molesting the FLS/FTS numbers but I wonder what else was done to this truck electronically to go from a max of 550hp to 2400hp. As far as the driveline goes it's not the power that breaks them it's the driver. I bet there has been more driveline parts broke on low hp semi's rather than high HP ones, mainly because the high HP trucks are usually driven by the owner and his right foot is connected to his brain through is wallet.

No offense to anyone on here but one of the best quotes I've heard in a while was "the best way to screw up a perfectly good diesel mechanic is to send him to OEM tech school"

There's a lot of truth to that. A low paid driver in a low powered truck uses the accelerator like a light switch, it's either idling or it's being shoved through the floorboards. Do that on the low side with a heavy load or get the wheels hopping and stuff is gonna break.

And imagine having a local city/government that is willing to close off public streets for that kind of event?
Must be nice..
And I bet an event like that brings in lots of extra revenue.

How is it that a 25k rig can shift gears that fast, when our 7k pound dual disc trucks have problems even trying to go that fast?

NO WAY!!! Not gonna happen, with all the "Safety *****" around you couldn't get within 100yrs of this kind of event. Not to mention all the safety equipment the trucks would need. Just take a trip to Canada where they seem to have fun!

But it could....
On private property.
Like an Indian Reservation.
Casinos, Hotels.......
Bet it could be done if there's money to be made.

But the main reason you haven't see something like that here yet is the "fear factor".
Heads up racing where everyone weighs in at say.....30,000 lbs gcvw pulling a g/n trailer on #2 only.
No nitrous, propane or any other kind of laughing gas.
Just #2 period.
Anything else under the hood is your business.

I wonder how many DTR, TDR and Cummins forum members would actually go for something like this?

Sign the proper "race at your own risk" forms....
IMHO, something like that is way more impressive than any dyno printout.
So....who has the Baddest truck?
Lets do an 1/8 mile....loaded....up hill.
First one to cross the line wins!
