Which manufacturer in their right mind would choose to supply ford with their engines? We have to remember that ford puts the ''finishing touches" on the otherwise fine engine supplied by navistar.Do you honestly think that cat,volvo,detroit...whatever would get involved with a company that is in financial disarray.?Not to mention the whole debaucle that we are discussing here. These engine manufacturers already have a succesful line of heavy engines. Why would they risk utter disaster and team up with them? Its true that you can already get a cat in a ford so who knows. But I think that ford will have to put their superduty on hold for a while and develop a reliable engine by themselves. They did it once with the 300.No matter what happens there will still be die hard fools ready to buy the next mess no matter what.Sorry to rant

1981 - A.B. Volvo purchased some assets of White Motor Corp. to form Volvo White Truck Corp., based in Greensboro, NC. Volvo White sold vehicles under the Volvo, White and Autocar nameplates.

1988 - Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corp. was formed as a joint venture between Volvo and General Motors Corp. Volvo GM's nameplates were WHITEGMC and Autocar. The WHITEGMC nameplate was discontinued in 1995 and Volvo GM's trucks were sold under the Volvo and Autocar nameplates.

Also White was instrumental in getting Consolidated Freightways in Oregon to use their engines. Various pieces of White have been sold to companies other than Volvo.
I own a 1995 WG42T Volvo single axle day cab. Its M11 Cummins equipped with an Eaton/Fuller 10 speed and 3.92 Rockwell rear. It has a badge on the dash that says "WHITEGMC" and the front fender badges, as well as the cab ID sticker, says " Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corporation" Now I am not up on who owns who in the big truck world, so my question is, Is this Volvo that I own the last year under those names? The years afterward in the Volvos equipped like mine have the same equipment and body as mine carry a different nameplate?

I am sorry, I know this is off subject, but there are more of you on here that know more than I about this one. If you dont mind the question.

Wow, just when you think Ford can't possibly do anything dumber... It's almost like they want to see how big of a hole they can dig before they have to climb out.

That is the saddest thing I've read in a while. Blind loyalty is stupid even for us cummins guys.

What happened to customer service? Instead of "the customer is always right" it seems to be " customer? who cares we need as much profit as possible, those idiots will buy our products anyway so why should we make them last? Short product life, more money"

Why is this acceptable? Every time I see some poor moron in a PSD of any kind I just wonder why people don't research vehicles before they buy them.

It's even funnier that ford is willing to develop their own diesel. Aren't the navistar engines good until ford modifies them? Or are they made specifically for ford?
