Added a 6.7 powerstroke to the kill list
I'm amazed at the price of all these new diesel trucks... a new Dodge at my local dealer is at least high 40's and most are in the $51k range... the Fords are $60k.... don't know about the Chevy's because I don't care enough to look....
Yep- I can do an awful lot to my $6000 Dodge, and still not touch that kind of money. And, the title is tucked away safe.
One piece, but still compound turbos. Very complicated (read expensive) part to replace.
about the cheapest diesel powered 3/4 will still cost you in the 35-38k range for a base model reg cab long bed 4x2
I assumed because it was in Diesel Power, they meant the diesel Super Duty. I'm not saying I believe it, but if Ford did offer the 6.7 (which according to DP's tests gets 24mpg unloaded) for $28K I can't imagine much competition being left.
Well, Diesel Power is wrong(what's new)... the 28k is for a base model gas powered 4x2 Reg Cab Long Bed... add on nearly 8k for the 6.7L Powerstroke option.
Lil Dog:
Yeah, according to Fords own website information, the 2011 Ford 6.7 PSD has
"A Garrett Single-Sequential Turbo that FUNCTIONS like a twin-turbo system and faetures a variable geometry exhaust housing, a ball bearing center support and TWO COMPRESSOR WHEELS!"

Like you said Lil Dog,..........EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE!!

That poor Ford guy probably has the cab off right now trying to figure out what to do to make it go faster than a little 6 cylinder. It's especially bad since Ford owns Cummins.

rip,
Yeah, I read something about that too. I bet Ford has gotten a lot of heat about the cab removal issue. Still, the new engine can't be much different in size. Maybe the reversed heads make it easier to work on, but now all the heat is at the top of the engine right in front of the cab. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all works out. From a distance, that is. My "little" six is just fine.

Mine too, I'd rather have my little 6 too, it just looks so old school and easy to lay a finger on. These new v8 diesels are filling up every inch of working room. And they know its gonna break sooner or later. Extreme engineering in the name of money and greed. lol
Anyone else notice that the axle offered on them is a 3.31, if they have any kind of 6th gear like the Allison or 68RE the sucker will have to run like 1500 RPM at 90mph!
