The link didn't work for me...
Yeah, I should have thrown that in there...wasn't trying to be brand specific with that response.

wow

That is all too much. Thats gonna be the proverbial straw for many a customer not to mention the aftermarket.

To some of you vendors who have products for ford as well as dodge, im interested to hear your take? will some of you not bother to develop for that engine due to the aggravation? I know its alot of potential business but sounds like customers who get denied warranty for a freaking exhaust tip are gonna rage.

I dont think it will be the end of the aftermarket performance stuff. With the amount of people buying trucks, and then adding a bunch of mods is
more than we think. And that is selling alot of trucks, regardless of brand. Just like the old muscle cars. He!!, theres even nationally published magazines devoted to making a little more or a lot of hp/tq. Along with the advertizing for these companys that show each brands trucks is basically free advertizing for the big 3. And the big 3 know this. I would have to think you'll just start seeing more diesel stuff in the pages of the MOPAR, gm, ford performance books and they'll be getting in on this a lot more than they were. Just now it will have to be clean, very clean. And when you open up your new tst or edge ect..., its gonna look like the wiring harness for the space shuttle. Probably will weigh 50lbs.

I am actually impressed with those vidoes provided. They are very informative for customers. Wish Dodge/Cummins had a site like this when I bought mine. I guess I need to go ahead and thank the people on here because this is the place I learned maintenance tips.

There may not be a 6.4L diesel in Ford's future with the battle going on between them and Navistar over warranty costs. And not to mention Ford's withholding against Navistar.

Sorry, but I sure don't like the way diesel engines are going... Regardless of brands! What ever happened to the KISS principle???
Diesels are being so tightly wrapped in complex emissions technology that they are becoming unmaintainable, unaffordable, and unworkable!

For their company's sake, I do hope Ford learned a lot from their recent truck owner financed R&D effort.

They're also becoming faster and more powerful at the same time.

Lubrication: "Its normal to add oil between oil changes" Oh boy this is going to get sad. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" DaVinci said that and he was right, Instead they got some Rube Goldberg engine that is going to pull them under the water. There made right here in Indy too.

I was never able to get the Ford Diesel video to actually start and run, but do they say anything about requiring the use of any special, low-ash diesel lube oil for the engine??? (This would be to save the precious aftertreatment systems from early pluggage )

(Something akin to the expensive VW specification oils that can only be obtained from the VW dealer?)
