5.9 Rebuild

Last year I rebuilt the 5.9 in dads grader. He bought it blown up. As you see, it must have had crazy hight EGT's. Put a Federal-Mogul kit in it and it runs like a champ. The down side is its rated at a whopping 130hp! We had the IP rebuilt, it had a "cracked head", that must have caused it to majorly over-fuel #6. It got basically everything new. Pistons, rings, all bearings, rod bushings, oil cooler, oil pump, turbo, injectors, pushrods. Crank was turned and head rebuilt. It was about 4 grand total. Now I just need to convice him it belongs in my pickup.[laugh]

It is a Dresser/Gallion T500C. Nothing special, but makes quick work of ruts in the lane.

Nice Install looks good.

Nick.

Actually it is a Schield Bantam T-35 mounted on a 1942 GMC 6x6. We have an excavator attachment for it. It seems crazy to think that was considered big machinery back in the day.

Looks like you guys did a great job. Good to see you got a heartbeat back in it.

Im working on a old 12v at school right now. It was in pretty bad shape, not as bad as your fathers though. The kids from last year "rebuilt" it and filled it full of gear lube. They then ran it for 15 minutes and then set it out side in a garage all winter long. Well, the headgasket was junk and was leaking water. There was rust everywhere in that motor. It was a headache but we got it all cleaned up and it's nearly ready for the engine dyno. Oh before I forget, almost all of the compression rings were cracked and they had silicon blocking the piston cooler nozzles. Idiots.
