3/4 ton vs 1/2 ton

I went to fill my tank today and saw a Ford F150, ext. cab, long bed, 2wd (2001 body style) sitting on the scale without the driver. I had weighed my truck on the same scale previously and it weighed 6800 lbs. I was curious to see how much the F150 weighed, so I went in and glanced at the readout. It showed 4880 lbs. I was actually kinda surprised at how light it was for a full-size truck, but I guess that comes to show that these trucks really are much more heavy duty than 1/2 tons even though they may have the same cab and bed configuration. That's nearly a 2000 lb. difference! Both trucks were weighed empty, but the Ford might have had some stuff in the bed as it looked like a work truck.

1/2 ton diesel weight

I had a 95 chevy 1/2 ton with the 6.5 diesel that I used to enter truck pulls in the 5000 lb class. To make the weight I had to be almost out of fuel and would take the talegate off. This was a 4x4 extended cab.Twogun
