smiller,

I'm sure Hoss was referring to the '04.5 model currently on the Dodge wesite:

QC 4X4 3500 SRW 9,900#

and 8,800 for the same QC 4X4 2500

OK, sorry, I was referring to 2WD versions, but looking back through the thread it appears that the orginal requester was looking for a 4WD model so that spec is indeed more appropriate for this discussion I guess... but regardless of a few hundred pounds one way or the other my original point remains... there just isn't any real-world difference between the SRW 2500 and SRW 3500... except for the overload springs and, of course, that magical sticker...

My 2500 with the automatic transmission AND the optional clearance lights has a 11.5 rear end. This information was on the specs when the truck was being built. I also did not even look at a 3500 SWD, I just assumed that it would be a lot more money. For the difference I think the 3500 would be better if it is less rough empty (I wanted the clearance lights anyway). I find the 2500 quite stiff but it really does not bother me that much.

BensBud what do you do with your horse, I see you are wearing a number are you competing?

LOL! Not sure you want to get me talking horses. We had just completed a competition - a Hunter Pace - in that photo. "Hunter Pacing" is our thing, but we love the beach, trails and we are considering going with the barn rats this season to do a three-phase or two. I drive for the barn anyway (6-horse gooseneck with an F350 SuperCrew dually ...not mine, I just drive it), so I may as well bring my big buddy and have some fun too. I'd be happy to chat horses, but I wouldn't want to bore all these truck guys. Feel free to email me at: BensBud@EquineSiteGallery.com and put "EquineSite" in the subject line. That will pass the email through my draconian spam filter.

I just realized what those clearance lights are used for:

If/when you slowly pull upto a tunnel, low overhang, underground parking, etc., the clearance lights will reflect off the low overhang making obvious that the roof of the truck is too high and will crash into it.

If that's the case I now *WANT* clearance lights, especially with high sitting 4XD 3500.

Dieselnewbie, appreciate that news article !!!! Makes me want to trade it in for a new version now, but got to get it paid off some.

I wish DC would also include the "Jacobs engine brake" as part of their tow/trailer package. After using one, I don't know how anybody would want to tow something heavy without it. It save the brakes big time !!! It should be a MANDATORY towing requirement. Problem is when you go to finance the new truck, if it's not part of the dealer package, then you can't get it financed.
