Could they have made those bars and Ford emblem on the grill any bigger? The front looks like the broad side of a barn. But you have to hand it to Ford for surviving with no bailouts.

As we mentioned in our first look at the 2011 Super Duty, Ford has made significant frame changes to the F-450 pickup in response to owner requests for better fuel economy. The result is a lighter truck with a double-digit percentage improvement in fuel economy, and it tops out at 13,050 pounds GVWR for 2011 versus 14,500 pounds GVWR in the 2010 model. Maximum towing is 24,400 pounds, down marginally from 24,600 pounds, and maximum hauling is 4,920 pounds, down from 6,100 pounds.
The F-450’s top speed has also been raised. The old 19.5-inch wheels have been dropped because their tires were rated up to only 80 mph. New 17-inch wheels and tires raise the 2011 F-450’s top speed above 90 mph. The two-wheel-drive version has also been dropped. The F-450 is only available with four-wheel drive.

We also drop some sturdy wheels so the tires can top +90?? Who wants to tow a 24k lb trailer at those speeds??? Not me!
I also see they have lost the hot-shot group by dropping the 2wd option??? I thought 4wd was the option?
Also, the brakes are ridiculous! Only 13"? And the Ram has 14"... Plus a exhaust brake.... And a bigger axle rating...

I found that interesting as well, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that I find it weird that anybody would buy a 2wd tow rig. All it takes is some gravel and a bit of a hill to render useless a 2wd truck with 20,000lbs behind it.

Dodge: 5.9, 6.7
Chevy: 6.2, 6.5, 6.6
Ford: 6.9, 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, 6.7
This motor is gonna blow everyone out of the water, just like the 6.4, 6.0, and
the 7.3
This motor is just gonna blow.

If you read enough of those comments you would think those guy didnt take to kindly to a fellow who just wants a truck that runs forever, like the legendary cummins. I havent heard legendary powerstroke in a long time.

All that huge power, with peak torque occurring at 1600 RPM. and I would tend to think that the torque curve isn't very flat.
That is where the inline still shines, torque, and lots of it, from the bottom end, right through the midrange. And for someone who works a truck, and doesn't want to drive it like they're mad at it, usable torque is what matters.
Don't get me wrong, I have both a 5.9 ISB, and a 7.3 PSD. The ISB with 3.55s and a 5 speed, 33 inch tall tires, will outpull the ford, with a 6 speed, 4.88 gears, and 33 inch tall tires. In fact, if I have any trailering to do at all, the dodge does it. The ford barely pulls itself.
Both are 01 models, dodge was 235hp stock, ford is 275 stock.
Take that as a history lesson.
Hope this new one works out for them.
