out of htese choices what would most of you rather have?
2007 or 2008 ?
5.9 or 6.7 ?
68re or manual ?
4:73 or 4:10
This would be used to pull around 12K

5.9 because it has none of the new emissions stuff on it. Manual because I would rather shift myself, and the 3.73 because it is not reved up as high on the highway.

5.9L
6-speed for hauling cargo
Auto for hauling yourself around at high velocity
I'd choose 3.73's for a 6-speed and MAYBE 4.10's for an auto. That may be fun.

I chose a 2007 5.9 with the 48RE and 3.73.
I'm right around 10K lb. when all loaded-up.
Tows great.
If my toy hauler was a lot larger, I'd go with 4.10s.
But m 23-footer is considered by many to be a "starter kit"

My truck's just a driver rig but I liked the manual better so that's what I got. If I didn't have this truck and was looking I'd either try to find what I have now or look really close at an '08 with the 68RFE. That new auto sounds really good. The only bad thing there is the 6.7 DPF's don't seem to be so forgiving with daily driver trucks but you're pulling 12K so no problems there...

Man I dunno for sure don't take my word for it. Just from reading the 6.7 forums it seems generally the daily driver trucks have more DPF problems than full time work trucks and the '08 trucks less so than the 7.5's... You might not have any troubles with one who knows it's just to bad they never had a 6 sp auto with the 5.9...
