2 stroke oil
 

here is something to think about, is the dye in off road fuel the same as the dye in 2 stroke oil? :- :-.

I don't know if it is the same, but they dye our oil at work. I asked the guy and he said dye is dye.

I thought about this after I dumped a pint of Klotz Castor in my tank.....oh well....if my tank get's dipped...it's my fault.

Good question, been wondering about that myself - especially Klotz.

I think dye is dye, but I don't think a pint or even a quart diluted in 30 gallons of fuel would amount to much. The red off-road stuff I've seen is bright red, even when a little is spilled over the side of a boat.

I think it is the "test" they do on the "sample" that will get ya, not the fact that it is red or not.....

[/quote]Thats the test; they dip a test strip into the fuel, and if the strip turns red due to the red dye in offroad fuel - and if you're using that fuel on a road-taxed vehicle, you get a hefty fine, no questions asked.

OK, can you justify using red dyed 2 stroke oil in your fuel ?

Here they write you a ticket/citation on the spot.. and as always you have the right to fight the charges in court.. They also pull several samples of the fuel to send off for testing.. I am guessing if you go to court and the samples come back that it wasnt dyed off road fuel the judge would drop the charges..

I would guess the lab could tell the difference between 2 cycle oil and the dye used in off road fuel.. Also the sulfur content would (should?) be a sign as well that fuel was on road fuel but was dyed (from the 2 cycle oil)

Some of us believe a little ashless 2 stroke oil helps lubricate the lift and injection pumps. I'll let you know ;) ;D 1qt:tankfull of diesel oil.

Folks be sure it's ashless, as mentioned above. Castor oil is not ashless, in fact it's one of the filthiest burning oils out there. I used to use it when I raced jetskis, because of it's high shear strength/film strength, and of course that good smell. If you don't have a highly modified, high rpm, HOT racing engine, that stuff will form some serious carbon buildup. They don't call it racing oil for no reason.

My personal sentiments are to use diesel fuel additives if you want to improve your fuel quality. Use the right tool for the job. ;)

If you use TCWIII 2 stroke oil, it will be ashless. BTW, I've never seen red 2 strok oil, only blue, green and purple.
