1000HP cummins?
I was watching Four Wheeler TV yesterday, and saw a shootout - something to the tune of the ultimate 4x4 contest.. Basically people had all kinds of custom built rigs that were to compete over a variety of tests. One guy had a 6wd dodge ram that was pretty crazy looking. Anyway, some guy had an older suburban, with a 24 valve Cummins in it - that he claims was making 1000hp and 3400lbs of torque. To me, that was unheard of. Anyone have any idea about this guy''s truck or is it just total bs? It was kinda crazy, he had one exhaust stack that looked to be coming from the center of the roof , shooting black smoke straight up.

HOTDRAM you're right that is the truck. It wasn't a misprint as far as the torque numbers, because I heard the guy say it out of his mouth on the show. It's possible he's trying to quote numbers at the flywheel to seem more impressive, but I still have serious doubts.....
As far as 150psi twins go, I have in fact heard of people making these kinds of numbers. Also watching the guy's truck on the show, I think he did have serious lag, because you could hear the engine roar for a good bit before you heard any turbo whine when he took of.. Who knows, I think he's got a fast cummins but is full of it!

He's bluffing. I've followed this truck in pics. through it's buildup and he doin' the ole,, "tell it to the press" over-estimation. I'd put him at about 700- to mabie low 800hp range, prolly around 85-90lbs is all his twins are good for. It is p-pumped though, so at least he has the fuel readily at hand to feed the fire

mitchell and scheid can make over 1000hp but there trucks also only run for about 20sec and are towed to the line. i can't imagine a truck making that much hp and be able to play in the mud and rocks witout doing some serious engine damage.

He'd have some serious torque issues w/ the axles and driveshafts w/ 3400 ft-lbs. Heck, the huge oversize dump truck engines have that much torque and look at how stout they're built.

The subURBANd LEGEND in question has more along the lines of 550hp.
1000hp for that setup is a dream.
You want 1000hp?
Here it is on video:

Infact, more like 1400-1500hp these days.
