$5500 Duramax injectors!!!

My brothers work truck, a 1 ton dually Duracrap took a fart the other day and started puffin' white smoke like crazy. He took it to the local GMC dealer to get it checked out. Low and behold, all injectors had gone bad(so they say) at 103,000 miles. Before it was all said and done it was roughly 5500 dollars to get all injectors replaced!!! That's freagin' crazy. Who else has a horror story about brand X!!

P.S.- Just for the sake of argument, my brothers personal truck is a Cummins.

I thought the injectors on a Duramax had a 140,000 mile warranty I read it somewhere your brother might want to research that could be true

There is a warranty extension, special policy, on the injectors and pump. Its to 200K I believe.

yes i think the whole drivetrain it 200k

I talked to a hotshot and he said $450 per injector so $5500 doesn't sound TOO far off with dealer installation. Sad, really sad. I bet you have to give your cores back too. I just bought 6 new RV 275 injectors for like $250 or something actually reasonably cheap.

The LB7 engine has a 7year 200k warranty on injectors.

One thing about Bosch (who makes the Common-rail products for the Cummins and D-max). They stand behind thier product. They are committed to doing it right.

I cant believe that all the injectors have failed, the only time we will ever change out all the injectors is on customer request. especially with the new electronic injectors. In the old days sure we have replace all of them, but at a reasonable price that was worth it. sounds like they're troubleshooting skills are so poor they sap it to the customer..... they should at least pull the exhaust manifold and find the smoking cylinder and fix that one and save the customer some money. but if the factory is willing to pay for them because they are having a issue with them and labor , go for it.

The warranty is for the 01 and 02 Durama. It is for 200K engine and drivetrain. 5500 is way off on the estimate. My uncles has 187,000 on his and they replaced all of the injectors before the warranty thing came up, and it cost 3500. He got his check in the mail a few months ago to cover his money, with interest figured from his bank. I like that.
