WTH ?? GREEN Diesel Fuel !! ??
Went to fill up at my local station yesterday and I noticed the fuel that was dispensing was GREEN !!!
It looked exactly like GREEN beer on St.Patty's Day !! I buy most ALL my diesel from this place and it has a relatively high fuel turnover rate, so I think it's HIGHLY unlikely to be contaminated with bacteria or whatever. The fuel I bought before this was normal diesel off-whiteish colored. Anyone know what it's now GREEN ?? |
The diesel round here has always had a light greenish tint to it, i just assumed it was a dye to designate what it was, just as unleaded gas has a light red tint added to it for identification purposes.....maybe your distributor added too much food coloring...... [laugh]

My guess it's ULSD. I noticed it in the last few fillups down here.

Yeah, I've always noticed a light green tint to my fuel as well.... never thought twice about it.

Green or clear is all I ever see... depending on which station I use. BP is mostly clear w/ a very slight tint of green to it. The Sunoco stations always seem to be very green...

Any one notice if the greens cheaper any?

I am thinking like a light yellow or clear. Not green at all. but I will keep a closer look now

Not a chance! If anything it is slightly more... BP calls it their Diesel Supreme and it has a higher Cetane content and a little lower flashpoint. Not many stations have it any longer. I used to have it delivered in bulk to my office before we relocated. |
well i know for a fact that BP and Shells diesel/gas gets more miliage than any other station...if i remember correctly its also 3 or 4 cents more expensive

MikeyB It's a REAL noticeable GREEN !! Not a light or pale GREEN. BTW, my truck is running MUCH stronger and smoother as well. Could it be USLD ?? |
Well yes, Not sure about USLD.... Friend of ours drives up from FL every year...The last few years hes only filled with BP fuel, and has had the best miliage out of the last 20 years or so

Since I've had my truck, I've noticed it change colors from a dirty brownish greenish ick to a nice antifreeze green,
always around the middle of April. 99% sure it's the first unblended batch of straight #2 after the long winter. phox |
