winter fuel?

winter fuel?

what is the reason for winter fuel? benifits etc? what if i only ever use dyed farm fuel? does that fuel need special treatment?? i always use conditioner and no major problems after 250000km except injectors and lift pump at my expense. oh well. thanks

Much lower gelling point than with standard #2 diesel. #1 diesel tends to be dryer than #2 so adding lubrication will only help.

Reason you haven't had any problems is most likely because most fuel distributors in the north start using treated for lower gel point diesel when the temps drop whether you want or know it.
After all they don't want fuel gelling up in their own tanks and pumps.

Except in the far north winter fuel is rarely a #1/#2 mix anymore, it's straight #2 with anti gel additive. Much easier and cheaper for the distributors plus they don't have to carry a extra line of product.
Friend who drives a fuel tanker tells me the Power Service anti gel they use is super concentrated and not available to the general public. One gallon treats a 10,000 gallon tanker.
