Summer diesel

When do they switch over to the Summer blend of fuel in Michigan??? This Winter fuel really sucks.

It can't be too much longer... I just dump some howe's or power service in w/ every tank. Haven't seen too horrible of fuel mileage this winter though, so I'm not complaining!

Would we have winter fuel in Ga? What is the differance between the two blends?

Typically a blend of #1 and #2 instead of just straight #2. Gives a little lower BTU than straight #2 hince lower fuel mileage.

I heard they were switching over to the "new" diesel in may for the 2007 emmissions. Wonder what mpg's will look like then?

Winter fuel runs from Nov 1 to March 1 but can be extended if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Blended fuel is rarely used anymore, anti gel additive added to straight #2 is cheaper and easier.
Most of the winter drop in mpgs can be attributed to longer idle times and not getting the engine up to optimum operating temperature. Believe it or not colder air also creates more aerodynamic drag.

Thanks for the replies. Infidel that was what i was looking for it seams that the fuel has not changed arround here yet but hopefully it will soon.

Pretty sure they have changed over around here. Gained about 1.5 MPG over the last tank or two.
