Ok, but do you think they help any, or enough to use on a regular basis.

I don't think additives are needed at all on a 12 valve except for winter anti-gel. That's all I've ever done with a problem free over 200k on both my rigs.
Now the 24 valves are a different story, they need all the help they can get.

12 valves including us of The Lord's Pump (i.e. the VE)?

I just used some Power Service for the first time to make sure the new ULSD doesn't have any problems; stunk terrible for a few miles, but now I have less smoke and it runs quieter, and I figure it can't hurt the fuel-lubricated pump.

(And has anybody else ever inhaled this stuff? Cawhewie! It feels, like, thick when you inhale it. It's like you can drown in the stuff!)

The VE is fuel lubricated like a VP44. A fuel additive is a very good idea, especially with a turned up pump.

The P-pumps on the later 12 valves are lubed by engine oil.

Don't worry, Begle - it grows on ya: I've been huffing PS silver out of a paper sack for years... I actually got my common rail so my P.O. wouldn't wonder why I was spending so much on "additives"

Been using Stanadyne PF pretty consistently since the first tankful. I've also tried Power Service a couple of times and it seems to be okay but I've got 2 cases of Stanadyne in the storeroom so I'll stick with it. I also put a glug or two of Marvel Mystery Oil every couple of fillups.

Last fillup, I didn't use any additives at all. What difference does it make? The engine runs a little noiser for one thing. The biggest difference has been the mpg. Whereas I usually get 15.5 to 16.5 around town, I'm now getting 14.8 by the computer.
