Gas prices in Bethel, Alaska, a remote bush town, range from $5 to $7 a gallon. The only saving grace for residents there and in many of the remote towns in western Alaska is that gas prices aren't going up. They were locked in during the fall when an entire winter's fuel supply was shipped in by river barge and stored. Diesel prices in some of these villages is already over $10.

Funny how Crude oil dropped $6 yesterday. I bet the fuel prices don't drop that fast. But they sure go up fast!

I had heard yesterday from an owner of a refinery who was interviewed that even though prices are so high, the refiners are only making about $6 per barrel. In comparison, this time last year they were making ~$38 per barrel. They said the profit margins on gasoline are so small that they cut back production to stress the refinery less since profits weren't large enough to stress the equipment.

Also stated gas is going to spike BAD due to this, since up until now the refineries have been eating the price hikes.

Should be an interesting Spring.

I think diesel will hit close to $5/gallon this spring, and then it'll come back down to about $4.30-4.50 in the summer.

IMO a bad gasoline price spike at the pump would be beneficial, since it'd hurl the seething masses into a whining fury that even the politicos would have to do something about... most people don't realize that #2 fuels our economy far more than unleaded.

Washington D.C. needs to eliminate the Boutique Blends.

Washington D.C. must allow drilling in ANWR, the Gulf, etc.

Washington D.C. had better stop penalizing our Canadian brethren for extracting shale oil.

We need more refining capacity, new nuke plants, lower taxes and a STOP to Wall Street welfare....

They have been trying to get the paperwork finished for some time now so they can build a new refinery out side of Yuma, AZ but the tree hugger's and others have all buy shut it down. So now they will either have to move it to a new location and get new EPA approval or fight it out in court, grrrrrr.

$3.939 at my usual place/usual pump/usual time. Around $110 for a wee bit over 28 gallons.

I can see $5 from here, and it ain't pretty!
