My town's 4 stations limiting fuel to 20 gallons a fillup.
Petro Card MFA, Cal's 2, Amoco, and Total....
They only allow 20 gallons per fill, then auto shut off. These are the both the trucker and small diesel nozzles. Frustrating as heck, especially when you trying to fillup a 100 gal transfer tank plus your own tank [eyecrazy] One station wouldn't give straight answer, just some noob working there. I found one station, Ray's MFA in town, he was out, clean dry, he told me to come back monday, and pump all i wanted, but he's been out for a while now. What gives? Anybody heard anything, or is your town doing this also? Price in diesel jump .10 from thurs to sat. 2.39 to 2.49 |
Saw the price around here jump 20 cents a gallon in the past week also.

I just got off the phone with MFA here in town, the credit card companys implemented a 20 gal limit on all fuel purchases if you use a credit card.
If you have a MFA petro card, you can pump 150 gallons. Apparently this is a statewide MFA and other stations policy now? If you have a valid CC, they've got your number preapproved, why would this be such an issue, like with drive offs? I really don't understand. |
sounds more like its a case or "pay our intrest or be inconvienced".

diesel went up $.40 since friday at a local am/pm!!!!!!!!!! what is that about? did we have another hurricane, earthquake, war????

I'd bet that someone was using stolen cards and the places got burnt. At least if you have to walk in the place the clerk CAN check the name on the card to the person. I've never liked the pay at the pump, to easy for someone to get anyones card and charge a ton to my account.
What ever happened to Service Stations? I remember as a kid having the attendant check oil, wash windows, and actually speak ENGILSH [rant] |
Our local stations have always had a $50, $75 or $100 limit on credit card gas/fuel purchase(s). That $ number seems to vary on occasion. But if you hit the limit and need more fuel, just insert the card again and continue pumping..... no biggie. The $100 limit was easy to hit while filling up the boat.
I love paying at the pump - no more waiting in lines to pay, or going back and waiting in line to get your change. Heck I use the card when I go get lawnmower gas. |

In my small town the pumps cut off at $50.00. for diesel, pump all the gas you want, but not diesel. unless you can tell the attendent exactly how much you want they can set it and charge you. So I asked about it and got the answer "well we had some ppl drive off" and "thats how the machine is set and we can't change it". Hmm ppl drive off with just diesel. thats a new one to me. Could it be that the gas companys are bleeding us dry.

[verymad] yes it is legal and almost ALL banks do this.......

The only one around here that cuts you off on a credit card is Sunoco. Their limit is $50 BUT...I beat the system by pumping the $50, turning off the pump, reinserting the credit card and pumping again - repeating until done. It has work everytime. You might want to try it.
