hey guys, i'm tired of these high fuel prices but can't afford to give up my beloved pickup, so i'm trying this making my own biodiesel thing out and so far i'm liking it. i'm just starting but hope to move to bigger batches in the near future. i was wondering, for you guys making larger batches, where do you get your methanol from? what suggestions can you give me?

Go-kart places usually have it or any decent race shop will have it for sale whether it be 1, 5, or 55 gallon containers.

 

Go to your local short track running late models or drag strip, many of the racers there are running Methanol, they are the kings of paying as little as possible.

 

Most oil Bulk Plants have it.

Id call some petroleum suppliers in your area and ask. Right now is the time to buy before it gets closer to the fall and prices go up. Its around 200$ now, and was as high as $400 over the winter.
Just be aware many states have regs about how much methanol you can store at a residence and that since its hazmat you shouldnt transport it yourself unless youre feeling lucky
