I'd blend it with # 2 diesel. Add some PS or your choice of lub.for the IP. By the way, all aircraft fuel is lighter than water.

Mogas is gasoline (for those who don't know...); those old pontiac 400's ran good on gas - not sure about diesel fuel though.

That's right - all hydrocarbon fuels are lighter than water.

I know a Pontiac 400 will run real strong (not too long, though!) on avgas...

My brother used to ah, "borrow" 100LL for his Pontiac... that's equivalent to 130 octane

He used to sneak that car on the airport runway at night for a few high speed blasts, then bug out before the law arrived... now he's CO of an F-18 squadron - go figure!

And the facts are.... (real science)

Been doing it for a long time. We were careful and have tested/investigated this thouroghly.

Use Stanadyne Lubricity formula. This product was designed by Stanadyne specifically to bring Jet A lubricity up to Diesel #2 levels.

BOCLE wear testing show wear scar smaller than the spec for No 2 diesel without adding 2 stroke oil (good)!

I run 2 stroke oil (never red colored stuff!) 100:1 in addition to the stanadyne. (paranoid insurance)

What works for sure...

Cummins C8.3 with a Bosch p-7100 pump. This engine is approve to burn Jet A without additive but I do it anyway. Works fine no failures.

2006 VW jette TDI. Common rail. Same additive as above.

Mercedes W210 E-300D. Same as above.

Soon to try on the new 2006 Gen 3 CTD. I expect slightly more pinging but no other problems.

Spoken to dozens of Mil and airport workers who ran Jet A in diesel mowers, refuelers, generators etc. Often for their entire carriers and I have yet to hear of any failure related to the use of Jet A. All operators where aware of the lubricity issues and most simply added a quart of motor oil to each tank (not my favorite as it separated out after sitting a while and requires agitation to re-mix).

CP,
Thanks a million for the info. Just to make sure this is what you're saying...
Use JP5 with no worries on a 5.9 Cummins by adding Stanadyne Lubricity formula. What raito?

I wish I had a tanker, Mark - I'd love to tow it out there and help with all that "waste" jet fuel....

The Air Force has been doing this since about 1995 or so. All diesel truck, generators, and aircraft use the same fuel. I am sure they have saved tons of money be using the same type of fuel. I know the generators running JP-8 work much better than on diesel fuel. Wetstacking problems are much lower.

Just my 2cents,

Joe

Our base uses B20 for all ground vehicles.
The mechanics say they don't like it becuase they claim they have to change fuel filters more often.
They also aren't allowed to use any Diesel Fuel Additives to compensate for the new ULSD..
