A little birdy told me the helicopter service industry constantly drain the fuel tanks to make dang sure there's no water present. Usually the operators puts the used fuel into their pickups and or flight line equipment.

Kind of. It's not just helo pilots, all aircraft are usually checked. You don't want ice in your fuel lines while airborne.

The tank isn't fully drained though, a tube is pulled from the bottom of the tank to check for water.

I'd rather have 10mpg of free fuel than 20 mpg at $6 a gallon

It adds up when there's a whole fleet of helicopters.

If Jet A is anything like Kerosene which it probably is...Dry.
Run at least 1 quart of clean engine oil mixed in every 5 gallon. That means filling a can with 5 gallons then shaking/mixing it once the oil is introduced.

Running a diesel fuel additive like Diesel power, power service etc. will only make the fuel drier that what it already is. So MAKE SURE you run clean ENGINE OIL! to help with lubrication.

i think my mix is more than adequate,

50/50, if not more diesel than jet A, and i changed from 200:1 ratio of TCW3, to a 128:1 ratio, so 1 ounce of oil per 1 gallon of Jet A

i hope all is well.

I wanted to bring this back up since I was recently asked about running Jet-A in a 6.7L.

DON'T!! I researched Jet-A and found out that it can contain up to 3000ppm of sulphur! Usual industry practice is 2500ppm but still way to high for modern emissions equipped diesels. Plan on seriously clogged EGR and DPF components if using Jet-A.

Back to your regularly schedule program.

If it has that much sulfur then all 5.9 owners need to be adding a gallon of it in every tank.

IIRC LSD is 500 PPM of sulfur and ULSD what many of us use now is 15 PPM of sulfur. FYI, Our off road diesel in my area is 15 PPM ULSD just like our on road diesel, yet some in Northern MN can still buy LSD for on road use.

Sulphur has nothing to do with lubrication. Jet-A is a dry fuel like gasoline.
