How long can you store DEF?
I have a farmer that has mucho DEF that he wants to sell me cheap, how long can I store it and still use it?
I have heard 1yr 2yr 4yr ???????? I am buying it all if it can be stored in 50-55 degree temps for 3-4 years. |
OK I checked with one of the manufacturers' chemist
His rely: If stored at or below 68F it will store forever, above it starts to deteriorate and if it is in over 85-90 degree weather it will be useless in less than a year. Shelf life in a store with 70-75 degree temps is 2 years max. So check stuff off those rural or slow turnover locations and do not use it... I now have 125 gals, purchased for 90 bucks total out of a sub cellar with temp reading of 62 degrees , in my cellar temp 66 and next to the air handler where it will always be under 68 degrees until used up.... |
