Grades of Methanol??
I don't think there are grades of methanol.Anyways here methanol is called methal hydrate. For the last 3 years I was using methal hydrate produced by "Gunk".Now the store replaced it with methal hydrate produced by the company called "Recochem".Both products stated 99.9% pure. Now during processing, the new recochem when mixed with the WVO produces a rotten smell, yet the gunk product didn't....The bio settles out ok but smells rotten...Way is that?...Nothing changed, same titration and same food joint.Has anyone else expereince a change in the processing smell after changing to a different brand of methanol??

You know, Ive bought methanol from various sources and one company sells me methanol that smells a lot like ammonia.
You can do a blank titration on the methanol to make sure its neutral ph, and also you can use a talle's alcoholmeter to check specific gravity.
I wouldnt worry about the smell if those tests look ok. Do a couple small batches and as long as you get a decent separation you should be ok.
