I've been running mineral oil from transformers straight till 20 degrees then mix 50/50 with diesel. No affect on mileage but seems stronger on the hills. I have to clean injectors yearly as they coke and start nailing when cold. I've run it a year and a half so far with no problems, 25k. It is an old Benz but in a few weeks I'll be using it in my new old Dodge with VE pump so am crossing fingers.

It would be a good idea , that if anyone is using anything other than petrol diesel , that including your crank case oil analysis , would be a big part of showing that there is little or no ill affect .
I've seen a number of studies when bio diesel [ mostly 20% ] were used and there was lots of testing , including tear downs of engines , this is where I get convinced of claims that something works , I will let others put what ever in there trucks , most owners will not see ill effects till something bad happens , since these trucks can go 1,000,000 + , I do not give much to , been using ??? for a yr. or ?? , and no problems , if we do not have the oil checked or tear down the eng. , what we think after a yr. ?? is meaningless .

to each his own I save $3.00+ for every gallon burned at that rate I can pay for a complete motor in short order maybe as little as 30,000 miles.

I just do like 04ctd, I pour mine thru a towel into another container, just to make sure. i run about a 25 to 75 % mixture. I have never had any problems. It sure does turn that offroad fuel a funny color too.Over 100K miles of doing this regularly.

The used Rotella that comes out of my engine ain't black! But the company uses an oil change place now so I don't have access anyhow.

I'm going to start using 12oz of TCW3 2 stroke oil and 4oz of Power Service with each fill up.

I don't WANT to have pump failure!!!

Ive read about people running 50/50 diesel/WMO and even 90% WMO.
The people who have made these claims also state that theyve been doing it for years with no problems except a loss in power. If someone were running that rich of a mixture, would adding a centane boost bring back the power?

there are more btu's in wmo than in dino so I bet a little bit more power just enough that towing my TT on some small rises I only drop 1 gear not 2. I still add marvel or some other additive. been running 70% wmo for about 18 months now.

I have added up to 6 gallons of used motor oil mixed into the 65 gallon auxiliary in-bed tank. It is plumbed to go through a 140 micron strainer to the OEM lift pump on the engine, then back through a frantz filter (yes, using it to filter fuel down to 1 micron), then through a manual valve then back to the aux tank. Normally, while driving I run the oem lift pump (via a mini toggle switch & relay) to keep the fuel/oil mix circulating through the filters. I kind of consider this the "fuel conditioner" loop. When the main tank starts getting low, I turn the valve and divert the filtered mix into the main tank. Sometimes it gets kind of rich with alot of motor oil in the mix.

Cant tell a difference in how the truck runs, but when it gets rich you can smell it burning oil. I try not to let it get to that point, but you can definitely smell it when it does. Truck runs fine on it though..

I actually consulted with a well known builder of VP44's and asked him about running oil through it and he said it will not hurt the VP at all as long as it has been filtered. It will just stain the insides black which doesnt affect its operation.

Have been doing this for several years now without any "known" problems.

I say, if you have used motor oil, filter it and burn it. Its free fuel, and you dont need to deal with taking it to the recycling center.

Have heard synthetic oil wont burn well though so avoid using that. Thats mainly why I went back to Delo..

I ran 50/50 WMO/#2 one time. It worked and burned fine, but smoked like nobodys business. If it werent for the smoke I would do it again but it really made alot of smoke at idle.

cummins allows 5% so thats about 7 qt for 35 gallon tank- I use 1 qt per tankfull. I pour mine thru TWO blue shop paper towels & have run my fingers thru it & have never felt ANYTHING gritty or any kind of substance other than oil. Marvel mystery oil was worse than no additive at all on the lubricity test on another thread here. ATF was a no-no too.

Planning to do the same thing with 25 gallon bins I picked up at Home Depot. Your setup is a lot like what I want to do. What is the tube running out of the top on the top bucket? Is that a vent?

Did you make it tall enough to fill a standard 5 gallon gas can? Just curious, I haven't built mine yet and I'm looking for pointers. What did you use for bulkhead fittings?
