Methanol is used for bio production. Racing fuel suppliers is a good source for large quantities of methanol.

I got it from a company in NH, windward petroleum. I bet you can call any petro vendor in your area and get the stuff. Youll need it delivered unless you have all that hazmat stuff to carry it. Its very heavy as well, so getting it off a pickup is no fun without a hydraulic lift gate.
I think theres also a process using ethanol and an acid but Im not sure. Methanol / lye is the best of the two I believe.

u also can make bio using ethanol, but it requires more of it, and contains no water. how ever, this being said. methanol produces more stable results, and reacts with 'creamy oils' better. the down side of meth is u really schould 'wash' the bio after making it, or the meth might play havoc with any rubber in the fuel system. my 3500drw is all stock and i run 100% bio. I've been told every thing in the system is synthetic[ rubber hoses, seals, in lp, ip, ect.] but just to be safe i still wash the bio just in case. also the post that meth and lye are good chooses is correct, but skip the acid part. its not part of the reaction for either meth or ethanol. the acid part is only used in the wash phase of the process. and it's only done if you're in a hurry to get the water out of the fuel after washing. the acid btw is tanic acid, u know, it's that nice pleasing 'caramel color' ingredient in pop. if you can't find lye, u can also use potassium nitrate, but like ethanol, u use Little more of it. however, it makes a good fertilizer after its used in processing
