Burning Fresh (Not Waste) Motor Oil

Can it be done?....

I have an unlimited supply of free oil 10w-40 15-40, 80W90 ATF....etc

Can I burn these fluids fresh right out of the bottle as a mix with diesel?

first off we would need a hint of what your are trying to burn it in......... 55 gallon drum.... campfire........ or possibly a cummins of some particualr model ? aside from the avoidance of road tax issues.......... others will chime in too.

I wouldn't use it in an electronic pumped truck. If you had an '89-98 truck I'd say yeah, go for it, mix it 50/50 all day long.

You name it, I've run it in mine. BUT! I added a 2 micron filter to the truck right out of the tank.

So If I run a filter through the fresh oil, there shouldnt be a problem even on my truck with the airdog?

I'm not sure what micron the air dog filters to. If its a 2 micron filter, your set. I do carry an extra filter with me, just in case. I learned it easier on the fuel pump if you add the oil after adding fuel, so the fuel is not so thick. I've run up to a 50/50 mix in mine.

*Oh, I would be carefull with the ATF. If you have the motor oil, i'd use it first.

I wouldn't think twice about it. I do it mine with WMO. I just filter mix with diesel & filter through a water separator & into the tank.

Go for it.

I run whatever NEW left over engine oil I have around the garage. Just dump it into the tank and it magically comes out the exhaust. No more than 2 or 3 liters per tank though...

I would not burn tranny oil in the vp44 or new trucks...

Sorry, I should have been more specific; I meant your fuel injection pump. I wouldn't run a heavy mix of motor oil and diesel through a VP44, they've got enough problems staying alive on #2 diesel. Like another poster said, 2 or 3 quarts per tankful of diesel is probably ok, but I wouldn't be looking at free motor oil as a fuel SOURCE. As a fuel supplement, yeah, toss in a couple quarts with every fillup; it'll probably add the lubricity back to the ULSD we're using now.
