Biodisel conversion Questions

Biodisel conversion Questions
Just picked up this rig, super excited but nervous about changing over to biodiesel, have heard stories of injection pump failure because of old build up and had it happen too. Have local fueling stations that offer b5, b20 and b99, was thinking about slowly steppin up mix over time. I've got an old 84 chev diesel 6.2 which is not the best engine ever but had to replace injection pump very soon after converting to BD$$$. Tried to search forums as I'm sure this has been discussed but no luck, thanks in advance for any help...

Lube
The bottom line to me with BIO diesel and the ultra-low sulpur diesel is the LACK of LUBE. I know what I do is prolly over kill but I want things to last. I put about 1 oz of twostroke oil in with my fuel every time I fuel up.... Read in a magizine wear they got like another mile per gallon out of it but I am just more interested it keeping you injection pump lubed. Also I know its not a bad idea because a long heavy haul truck driver living besie be growing up use to put a like oil in his fuel when he refueled and his engines ran long time between rebuilds. Just my two cents though.....

When I got my Dodge, I switched straight to B100 and quickly stuffed a filter. It's reallt no big deal; you just don't have all the power you did before starting on bio and you only have to pop on a new filter. If your experience is anything like mine, your first filter will last about 2,000 miles, your second another 2,000, and your third filter about 10,000.
Biodiesel actually has about 6 times the lubricity of the old 500ppm diesel and about a hundred times the lubricity of ULSD. It's better for your pump than anything out there, including 2-stroke oil in ULSD.

Start slowly with a 25% mix and caryy extra filters with you. You will get stranded because BioDiesel cleans all the crap out of you fuel tank. I've been running 100% BioDiesel since 2006 and love it. Makes you hungry somtimes

I started with a truck that had 140,000 miles of D2 crud built up in the tank and switched straight to B100. I knew I was crudding up a filter not because I got stranded but because the Cajon Pass on 15N was slowing me down to 75mph max, and my stoplight takeoffs were getting sluggish. A new filter cleared that right up... for a few weeks.
My exhaust smells like a Chinese kitchen on fire.
