When I was running hopper bottom I pulled a lot of loads of distiller's grain out of ethanol plants in KY and IN . The plant in South Bend would load 25 tons on in about 15 minutes . It wakes great cattle feed . ( But the cows like distillers grain from Jim Beam better and it's funny to watch the pigeons that eat it stagger around )

Another factor of BD production many folks fail to realize is that the "waste" is worth way more than the fuel as livestock feed. That is what will make or break the operation, the BD fuel must be considered a byproduct.
Great points, Bill

In Tucson:
B5 $2.71/gal
B20 $2.71/gal
B99 $2.61/gal

I can think of ten little reasons per gallon right there, buddy.

Infidel's points are based on trends and economic realities rather than the occasional salient anecdote, however...

Does that include the $1 per gallon government subsidy that you pay as a taxpayer?

Don't get me wrong, I fully support bio or I wouldn't work in the industry.
I just realize it's just a very small part of the solution to our energy problems.

I rather my tax money go into a biodiesel subsidy, than to pay someone's bills while they lay up on their rear.

Bill,
Don't get me wrong either. I took issue with the statement you wrote, but it sounds like you know a lot more about Biodiesel and the petroleum industry than I do.

I agree bio isn't *the* answer, because there isn't ONE answer out of this mess we're in.

By being able to put B99 in my truck, not polluting as much as running #2 diesel, getting a renewable resource made in Colorado (I think by US Biofuels? I could be wrong) is worth more to me than supporting a petroleum industry I feel is way too big and powerful. And out to screw me.

Honestly, I don't feel like I can change the world by using Biodiesel, but I feel like I'm a little bit less of the problem by using it. And that is worth paying a premium for to me. When I'm not paying a premium, it feels that much better.
