B100 @ 190 Degrees
Hello,
I'm planning to install a coolant heat exchanger that will heat my B100 to possibly 180 degrees prior to pushing the fuel the fuel filter canister. I'm a little worried that the 180 degree heat might damage my CP3.
I know there is a lot of you running WVO in a 3rd gen, assuming you are heating it to at least 160 degrees... any issues with the CP3 and the high heat?
Thanks,
lv2bunderwater

Thanks for the reply!
I do not need it that hot at all... Just want to make sure the B100 doesn't gel or clog the filter in the winter.
Ideally, the fuel would be around 60-80 degrees but I would not be able to limit it to only 80 degrees after the coolant exchange heater. Once the cold bio fuel leaves the exchanger it would be hot and could reach 180 degrees. That is the max temp of the coolant based on a 180 degree termostate.
Will the 180 degree fuel damage the high pressure pump?

ditto on not heating biodiesel..its not good for the B100. if anything install a cooler to help cool the fuel if it get over 150F(or so).
WVO/SVO - yes heating is needed.
the only good time to heat biodiesel is to keep it from gelling.

Thanks guys!
I do not think my coolant exchanger with heat the B100 anywhere near 180 degrees. I was simply trying to see if others, running WVO, were having any issues with heating their oil to 180 degrees and it causing failure at the CP3 pump. I know to nurn WVO the oil must be heated beyond 160...
