Anyone making their own Biodiesel??

I have been researching this and it seems " Do able " Anyone tried this yet?

Ethanol looks like it would be easier to make than biodiesel but then I would have to have a gas burning truck and i don't see that happening..

Do a search for Appleseed Processor.
It's the preferred "Homemade" system for smaller scale Bio production.

My job is actually to make biodiesel. We have the fuelmeister set up though. I've seen some guys around here that have built their own, and have had great success with it. One guy is running B100 in his car. I haven't started running it in either of my trucks yet, but plan to soon.

Do you have the Fuelmeister 1 or 2? We have the first one and the premixing tank is a joke. It doesn't dissolve the lye like it should so its done by hand. I guess the second one is supposed to be better, but I don't know much about it.

Where are you guys getting the vegetable oil?

Are you buying new stuff and converting it to biodiesel or getting used vegetable oil from a local resturant?

Thanks in advance.

Actually have a contract with a peanut farm and buying the oil from them. It isn't virgin oil though. The guys I mentioned earlier have been picking up there wvo from local restauraunts. They said the best oil was from chinese places. It seemed that the people were more than happy to give them whatever they needed, but some places said no only because they had already signed a contract with a company to pick up the oil.

I mixed a batch at 45F and just shaking and rolling the carboy around was enough to get it to mix and start heating up.

Yeah I bought two 5 gallon water jugs and use those with a drill and a paddle. It still takes some time, but I might try that heating it up a bit before mixing. Thats the longest part of the whole operation besides heating 40 gallons of oil

damm i was throwing this stuff away for 8 years!! ( well, canadian waste was picking up) now i have a deisel and no fryer anymore!!!! but a used donut fryer behind the shop hooked to propane would be the way to heat that , my old one held 35-40 gallons and would heat to 190deg in about 5mins,and then a belshaw filter system ( just a box with a motor, filter, and high temp hose) and pump and filter it where you want it to go.
