Another thing to consider in the price of diesel is that the US dollar is worth the same as the canadian dollar nowadays. The federal reserve is printing up funny money like its going out of style. I think that has an impact on prices too.
Bad thing is, our salaries stay the same while the costs on all this stuff climb.
I know my 3% raise isnt covering this...

The dollar is going bye-bye - maybe not this year but certainly within a decade. Vincente Fox recently on CNN has been a strong proponent of a North American Union and the Amero. The Amero is not fiction. If you give a read to John Corsi's book, you'll see this process has been in the works for a long time.
Our old currency was backed originally by gold & silver. Present currency with the nice colors is backed by the "full faith and credit" of the USofA. Credit markets have taken a bad fall recently - subprime loans, etc. And, it's only the tip of the iceberg.

Basically, they regulate the supply of money in an effort to keep banks as wealthy as possible, including setting the maximum amount a bank can have on loan (by funds on deposit) and "fed funds rate" as well as the "discount" rate.
The entire monetary policy of the US is in the hands of an unelected cartel with the duplicitous endoresement of the US GOV'T.
