All you 20+ mpg people
Raining cats and dogs outside. Not sure what the build date was but i think it was 6/06.
I Changed oil in it today (710 miles on it) , when they checked air pressure in tires they were all at 45 pounds (i guess they are trying to impress people with how nice they ride ) , anyhow i had them take them up to 65 pounds and noticed on the way home my overhead was reading 15.3--before i uped the air it had been reading 14.5---that may have helped a bit.
Filled the tank with 301 miles on the odometer and it took 25.4 gal. , thats figuring just a tad under 12 mpg. that was all under 60 mph.
Stopped at the local Chryler dealer to have them check the from a stop acceleration shutter. They called Star and Star was off line. They called me this afternoon and said to bring it in Mon so they could take a look at it. Star told them they had some out that the yokes on the driveshafts had been welded on wrong . Smooths right out after the first 10 seconds or so.

fuel mileage
1992 ctd cc. i usually get between 22-23 mpg. p.o. told me he always got between 24-26,while running biodiesel mixed with the real stuff at 80 diesel and 20 bio. i like my truck, its going in my will.
My 04, with the mild "Zilla" chip, has gotten as much as 24 unloaded. With a 4k cab over on board, I run between 15 and 19, depending on wind and grade. My tires are 19.5's, everything else is stock (besides the chip).
I am VERY gentle on the throttle. I try to stay between 1600 and 1800 rpm. If I bump the rpms to 1900, I see a loss in mileage. At 2000 and above, it really nose dives. I have 40,000 miles on it at present.

How many people are still driving with their tail gate down.
I was woundering about weight reduction. Carbon fiber panels might be hard to get for our trucks though. Light weight drive shaft? Anything easily available for our trucks to save weight?

On my 92 I run just about 20mpg sometimes a touch more sometimes a touch less. You can see how I am set up but when towing a 12k fifth wheel it goes to about 11 to 12 mpg. For what it is I'm very happy with it.
I've got 3.55 gears I believe and an 80 gallon aux tank. I made a 1050 mile trip from southern california to northern oregon non-stop except to pee and averaged about 16.5 mpg at around 70 mph on a 1st gen. I've heard of running acetone ( 2oz per 10 gal) to improve fuel economy, power, and engine cleaning, but I didnt do it on this trip.
Hi to all, new to site. I get 13 in town/mixed unloaded, drive like I stole it, 18 on highway at 60. that's with 4.10's and 285's + stynadyne additive a every tank. My truck is consistent really no matter how I drive though. 97k on the odometer vp replaced last year.

We made it back. Just over 3K miles. I haven't figureed it out exactly. But by the tanks as I filled up it was 21.5 to mid Utah(mountian and fun), 23 to(and around) yellow stone, 22 to just inside Oregon, 22 to Carson city, and 22 to east of Kingman. This was at around 7500# with the glass shell and camping gear. Most was around 70 except in the park (about 140miles) which varied from 25-50. Now that I'm home I'm going to try running 65 to/from work. Now it is around 1800 RPM. Last time I tried (with no change) I was at 2000.

Most people I know with the 4:10's are getting 14-16.
