I have an 06 4x4, 2500 with stock tires, automatic 4 speed, 373 gears with 7000 miles on the truck. I take it easy but do drive the speed limite empty and use my overdrive. (1200 lbs lighter and slighty up hill.) I get 14 to 16 in town and 18 to 19 on the road at 75 mph. I got 20.4 once but that was going from Flagstaff (7000 ft.) to Mesa AZ. (2500 ft.) I drove from Phoenix to Rocky Point Mexico pulling a Warrior 26 foot toyhauler with 150 gal. of water and got 10.2 miles per gal. I drove about 65 mph. I went from 2500 to sea level. I got 10.4 coming home but I ran empty of water. I am going to pull that trailer all the way to New Yourk and back next summer and do a very sound mileage check which I will post. I have been getting better milage as I put more miles on it. I think you are getting about the right mileage.

It's real simple:
Number of Miles Driven / Number of Gallons Needed to Top Off = MPG
I average 550-560 miles per tank. It usually takes me in the neighborhood of 26 gallons to fill it back up. You do the math.
Back when I was diligent about recording every tank of gas that I bought in my fuel log, my calculated MPG (Excel formula) was always right on the money with the overhead calculator. Once I figured out that my overhead wasn't lying to me I didn't bother with manual calculations as much...just spot checks here and there to make sure it's still right.
That being said, my truck showed 25.1 mpg on my drive to work this morning in Austin rush hour traffic. This was the first 25 miles of driving with B20. I have serious doubts about the accuracy of that number so I'll be hand calculating my next few tanks just to see what the B20 is doing for me.

Ok so if I am correct by this method, if I go from my stock 265/70/17 that I am getting 19 to 20 mpg with (and sometimes 21 22 when it is flat) Exactly how much is my milage going to change? 1 or two mpg ? I want to go with 305/70/17

Even if I only got 16 average, that would be 3 miles per gallon better than I averaged with my 99 Ram 1500 318cid! The facts is that I get 16 mpg city, and 21 highway. For a truck with 100 more horsepower that's pretty impressive IMHO!!!

Great sites......ALSO...from my testing.....i go about 5 more miles than what my Odometer says for every 100 miles. I compare it to my Garmin Street Pilot. After about 400 miles on the truck...the GPS says APX 420.....That, by my math, it about 5% over stock with my 315's.

Mine comes on right at 1/8 tank mark, only happened twice since I have owned it. I worry about fuel heating, lp dying.....or worse....vp death!! My best mileage was hand calculated, varied loads for a week. Usually just trailer 60 miles to work and a few hundred pounds on the way back and one load at the end of the week, 3000#'s. I pushed it to around 450 or so miles on that tank of fuel and came out at 20mpg. Good enough for me, considering 7000# plus truck......

Mine is also Lago Alberto...but without undercoating, as best I can tell. Lived with a vacumm pump leak for 6 months so it's hard to be sure.

I just got done with a quick trip last week. I left last Tuesday from my location in Port Orchard,WA to San Diego, CA and back (by Friday). I documented my fuel stops and mileage along the way. The first half of the trip consisted of speeds of 65-75mph with the quad box on/position 2, the second half consisted of 75-82mph with the quad box on/position 2. (At each stop I Pre-mixed 9 oz's of Lucas Oils fuel treatment http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...tid=2&loc=show and 9 oz's of Power service.) Note: After using the Lucas oils stuff I will never go back to MMO! My start mileage was 43,207. I topped off to the filler neck before leaving 4 gallons (and at each stop), filled up again at Mount Shasta, Ca (had well over a 1/4 tank left, distance was 530, OD mileage 43,737/DTE was 220), filled up again in Grapevine, Ca (had just over a 1/4 tank left distance was 534, OD mileage 44,271/DTE was 220), Arrived in San Diego Wed, while so conducted misc around town trips to include sitting in traffic, then departed Thur (no fill-up). Drove from San Diego to Willowsprings, CA filled up {ran out of lucas oil fuel treatment here} (had slightly over a 1/4 tank left distance was 505, OD mileage 44,777/DTE was 200), filled up again at Mount Shasta, CA (had a 1/4 tank left distance was 502, OD mileage 45,279/DTE 160) Finished out my trip from the start point. Speed decreased to posted speed limit +/-5mph or lower due to construction (had just under 1/2 tank left, visually 1/2 way between the 1/2 and 1/4 mark distance was 531, OD mileage was 45,809/DTE 234. Total mileage 2,602. Total fill-ups 4.

I just filled my truck up on saturday and got 23.2mpg. That was with 75% highway and 25% city. That may seem good, but I have gotten as high as 26.8mpg. All of these are hand calculated. It seems the best mileage comes from 2wd trucks that are close to stock. I can't wait to pick up my cummins powered ford to see what it gets. I'll probably be disappointed.

My mechanically bone stock 2wd 03.5 (born 7/17/03) has gotten 21.2 mpg average since I've had it, and I refuel every 650 miles or so. There was a family illness that kept me on the road over the winter and spring, so now with more in-town running, that average is bound to come down. Of course, I tend to live my life within a mile of the house, so that means monthly fillups when I don't have to make the big commute to my folks' house.
I DO drive it for economy, though. On the interstate, I find something big going 65 mph and tag along. Out in sticks, I try to go 62 mph. Around town, its ability to idle at 25 mph lets me keep my foot out of it in the neighborhoods - sort of ghosting around. Real subtle, right?

Average??? That is a pretty big average....which means that you have higher and lower numbers.......not that i dont believe you....i just talk to way too many people that dont get anywhere near thoes numbers.....EVER! haha......
