Heard on the news tonight, if hurricane Rita takes out the refineries on the coast we could see fuel for 4 bucks, or more, per gallon. They said 25% of the nations refining capacity is directly in the projected path of the storm. They're expecting major damage to the refineries, they've never been through anything more than a category 3. How long they will be out of production depends on the extent of the damage. Worst case is gas, diesel and jet fuel not only will be expensive, but could be in short supply as well.
