$3 buck a gallon!

I just put diesel in my tank for 2.99 99/100 . I drove over to six diesel stations and are were priced exactly the same! I smell trouble brewing in the economy real quick like!

Lets see.... trucking industry,,,,locomotive, shipping..... inflation at the retail level, travel industry. New diesel truck industry. If diesel is going through the roof, who would buy a diesel truck?

This is starting to get bad

shoot, that makes my 2.30 (which i thought was outragous) look good.

Well, it will all bet better again in about 20-30 days. Apparently, they took down (for maintenance) the refinery that makes diesel for CA. I don't know the entire story, but that is supposedly what is driving the cost of fuel here in CA through the roof.

We shall see. I did a search for fuel prices on the Flying J web site last night, and Kalifornia is the only place where the prices are this bad.

and I felt bad yesterday at $2.19

tell ya what, I will sell diesel to you for $2.25 and you pay shipping
as you can see I will only be making 6 cents a gallon. This is not price
gouging in the least, just a small profit for me.

Thank you for your support

Yeah, so, Greasecar or Greasel?

2.99 here as well...

mainer 08-07-2005 06:04 PM

When my turck is up and running i am going to grease it! But i will not be spending 1100 bucks on a grease car kit(that are on back order) I will be making my own. It can't be that hard! tap into the antifreez for the heating then I'll have to tap into the fuel line somewhere. I had a buddy just do it with his VW and it his kit came with a sheet that tells everything you need to biuld your own.

Diesel here is 2.53, I was up north this weekend and it was between 2.38 and 2.42. It was cheeper then gas! Thats the way it should be in the summer.

This is NOT good news. I hope this stays on the Left Coast.
I was pushing the wife into a VW TDI, now having second thoughts?? It's bad enough we already have one vehicle that takes $65.00-$70.00 to fill up.
I can't believe how volitle the pricing is, we are still hanging in around $2.30-$2.49 a gallon.

Flashdancr 08-07-2005 08:09 PM

Wow are we lucky. Were in Spartanburg SC right now and it $2.14. Hope we don't get sent to CA.:o

Has anyone heard the latest about the government trying to keep us from making bio-diesel?
How is the price for the methonol and the Lye,
I am sure they will raise the price on it and try to make it so expensive so we will not try to make it.
I heard they are already trying to make you have a haz/mat license and insurance to haul the WVO from the source.
Ill bet you they will now make methonol and lye a hazardous material and require you to have a license to purchase it, especially in any quanity. Just a bad feeling.

Methanol is a hazardous material -- it is really, really nasty stuff. Carcinogenic, bad for the liver, and quite flammable. As for lye -- all you need is a wood stove. [laugh]

Hadn't heard about bio-diesel transport requiring a haz-mat placard, but if you keep it under 100 gallons, you should be safe anyway.

Bocifus 08-08-2005 12:51 PM

$3.29 yesterday in So. Cal. Truck is parked, driving my other car. $60 for a 1/2 tank.
This is starting to hurt.

how do you get lye from a wood stove?

Strange price structure these days. We were just out the I-5 in Kettlemen city where diesel is usually real low at the truck stop/Beacon. It was $3.00 a gal at the surrounding stations and $2.90 at Beacon. Odd thing was up in the mountains where its typically 20 to 30 cents a gal higher it was 20 to 30 a gal lower?? who`s screwing who? I saw on TV a few months ago a Saudi oil minister state" This year the profits are at all time highs" Yeah were all gettin hosed Id say.
