Wake up guys, its not all price gouging........................... its not the price of oil driving the cost up. You can have all the oil in the world, if you cant refine it to gas or diesel, the price goes up. Guess what...refineries currently have a horrible output with all the damage and maint. going on.

In addition add in 1.3 BILLION Chinese all wanting to drive cars and have refrigerators just like us Westerners. Thats more than 4 times the amount of people we have in the US. All of that plus they now have loads of US $$$$ that we gave them to put us in this situation. I am truly afraid that it isnt going to get any better.

There's a big Texaco gas station/truck stop by my house. They're the only ones that never completely ran out of gas because of Rita. Last Thursday I fill up there for $2.60/gl... by the weekend they were selling diesel for $3.45/gl!!! reg gas barely went up, just down the street at the shell station diesel was $2.75.

I was talking with the guy inside at the shell station and he couldn't beleive they were selling it that high down the road. He said the expected gas to go up some but that diesel would probably be the same

Well, the exact opposite happened. Reg gas is still $2.89/gl and diesel is atleast $3.19/gl everywhere...<edit>?

Do a google search for appleseed processor before you spend $3,000-$4000 for a Bio-Diesel setup.

Check it out.

Ther are some serious issues with that set-up by all reports. I have been studying home-brew, and have stated on my own processor. Most of the websites and a few folks on this site have had horror stories abou that rig.
It would probably be great if it was made of all metal, but the plastic isnt good.
ou can make a home processor just like that, although probably not as pretty for a few hundred dollars or less.
Google " appleseed processor" or check out a few of the other threads here for links to sites that explain how to build one.

Diesel is $3.58 this morning here in Raleigh. Yesterday at the same station, was $3.52. Unfortunately, I live in a State that has higher prices than any in the nation other than Hawaii and DC.

If your going to watch wholesale prices, better off watching the spot price. That is what is being paid for the stuff, not the Nymex closing price.

Did a 750 mile road trip Sunday/Monday and noticed posted prices ranging from $2.69/9 to $3.99/9. Both of those were in GA. Don't know if the station with $2.69 price actually had fuel, but I'm SURE the guy charging $3.99/9 had plenty left.

Most trucks stops were in the $3.29/9 -- $3.49/9 range, with the biggest number at $3.39/9.

I saw a few stations with with $0.00 posted and the pumps closed off. One place ran out of diesel and changed its sign as I rolled in. I guess there may be an actual shortage.

I have quite a bit invested in a mutual fund that is heavy into the petro and energy companies.
I'm happy
Last year the return was 47%, oddly enough the biggest gains were in the health care sector though.

Here you go, buy a bunch, it makes my return even higher.
Vanguard Strategic Equity Fund
http://flagship4.vanguard.com/VGApp/...FundIntExt=INT

Had my number wrong though, the return was 43%, that was an exceptional year though, ten year average is 13.78%. Minumum investment is $3000.

on edit hadn't looked at what stocks this fund had invested in for quite some time, surpised to see that Cummins is in the top ten now. The holdings are always changing, better to let the experts buy and sell rather than me.
1 Sunoco, Inc. (operates five refineries)
2 Phelps Dodge Corp.
3 Parker Hannifin Corp.
4 CSX Corp.
5 Coventry Health Care Inc.
6 Cummins Inc.
7 Fiserv, Inc.
8 CIT Group Inc.
9 Sempra Energy
10 MGIC Investment Corp.

The price of diesel fuel is making the local bio station enticing. B99 for $2.75 a gallon.
