$.20-.30 cent Jump overnight.........

Just now hit us. Prices in Baltimore are right under $3.00 a gallon for 87.

Making it tough for commuters here, my wife rolls 74 miles one way, five day's a week.

I'm afraid to calculate the totals here, but it hurts.

Prez just announced he'll allow the Strategic Oil Reserves to be opened to "loan" oil to replace what was "Lost" during the storm shut-down.

Our gas shot up yesterday. The wife was irritated with me because I didn't fill up the day before. I didn't figger that the prices would jump THAT fast. An old man was there filling up his truck and looked over at me shaking his head and said "well, all I know is that I didn't vote for him (Bush)". What a goober .

Y'know ... I have never worked at a gas station before, but changing those little gas price numbers on the sign outside must really be a lot of fun because them knuckleheads just about break their necks running out to swap them around .

Getting crude out of the strategic reserve isn't going to help. The refineries in the area are still down, that 's what is causing the shortage.

And the fact that many of the people that work on the platforms live in south Louisiana and Mississippi...

Also the three major pipelines that feed the east, north east and mid west are down. So plan on shortages in those areas.

3.00 here in laredo

Some stations have diesel for 2.35-2.55, others for 3.00 as well.. Its kinda screwy as well.... Regardless of the fact, while the refineries are down, prices are gonna be up, and to "replace" what was lost, just means prices will be up till we can replenish our "tapped" resources. Eitherways, these effects are gonna last for a while, I dont expect the prices to come down just because, unless we start to drill elsewhere, as in alaska or other areas that are known to have many a fossil fuel, Im just gonna swallow it and get used to it, i dont expect prices to be low again for a long long time...

I heard the same, the pipelines are damaged which will restrict us. There are a lot of refineries on the East cost, DE area to be exact. Not sure how it affects everybody, but I think if it effects one person, we all feel it. Why does that sound so familair??

Also, anybody know the cheapest place to buy a huffy?? I need one with the little basket up fron to hold my lunch, briefcase, pager and cell phone. Training wheels prefered as I don't want to use my feet when stoped in traffic. Rear only brakes ok, prefer to have front and rear. Must be pink and have white tires, a gel seat, little ring ring bell and 1/2" axles to support my 200lb butt.

I wonder if they'd tax me going through the tolls on a bike??

This stinks. If only money grew outa my rear, I'd be rich

I'm just suprised (not sure why) Mainly because I have been reading all about California, and other spots seeing huge increases overnight. This is depressing and not going to be good for the economy in general. Can anyone say Recession?

Anyone in government going to propose a more permanent solution to this seemingly permanent problem?? Throwing more oil at a maxxed out refining capacity seems like a politial manuever move or a "feel good" kind of thing.

I am seeing a few people filling up multiple gas cans for reserve before the prices jump again.

The Amish folks just clip-clop right by the gas stations .... . Hmmmm, I wonder where you could stick a Cummins sticker on a horse-drawn buggy ??!!

Some of your areas need to refill the pump tanks every day...but up here its maybe once a week. Yet the prices STILL jumped. I would say thats price gouging. The same tank of fuel that they were able to sell for $255 a couple days ago is now selling for $2.95. That tells me the station owners just want to get the max. $$$ out of each gallon. I could understand the prices going up when the next truckload comes in...

The station owner raises prices today in order to pay the higher price he will be charged when the next truckload is delivered. Right or wrong, he goes by replacement cost, not the cost of what's already in the tank.
