First Urea fill on my Ram 2500.
Guys,
Just checking to see what kind of mileage you are getting out of a tank of Urea?
Brought my 13 Ram 2500 in because the gage was on empty.
Truck is 2 months old. I have done very minimal towing because I have a dually for towing.
Here are the stats.
Miles 4165
Hours:
17 hours idling
85 hours running.
115 Total Hours
Is this in line.
When I picked this truck I heard this ticking noise from underneath and actually took the truck in to have it looked at. They said that all RAM urea trucks would have this sound. I did test drive a couple and they all did make the ticking noise. I have a 2012 DRW that makes no noise.
Either way, looking to some comments from folks that have 2013 urea trucks.
Thanks Mark

The DEF usage is going on on the other Cummins forums as well. It seems, in hot weather and towing, they're using anywhere from 25:1 to 50:1 Fuel to DEF. I hear, when it's cold out, these trucks use very little DEF.
BTW, I've also heard Cummins states they should average about 50:1 on Fuel to DEF.
Not at an average of 36 mph (4165 divided by 115).
I'd be interested to know how high the oil is on the dipstick, the pre-urea trucks liked to "make oil" when idling a lot. I wonder if the ratio of EGR to DEF is used more at idle or highway speeds, or equal parts throughout the RPM range. Unfortunately you're blazing new territory here, other than the cab & chassis guys.

Lots of summer stuff has happened over the past few months. Give em time they will be back.. lol
I've only had one problem.. It was 39c and i let my truck idle in traffic for a hour and my sensor behind my DPF is reading bad. Other then that this truck has been fan fricken tastic.. 94000 km.. nothing done but oil changes and fuel added to it..

Prior to me buying a new dodge DEF truck, I'm going to wait for a few winters or wait for someone to delete. I have even been considering buying a 2013 2500HD duramax, only because its cheaper and you can do a delete it.
Heard that there are some cold winter issues and urea freeze up. Have to see how the new dodge truck take a 2-4 weeks -40 deg's C snap. I use my truck for work.

I have a 2014 Ram 3500 4x4 CC 8' 6.7L Asian with 4,276 miles on today and have had to fill my tank twice already and it's now down to 75% with about half of that mileage towing a #7,000 trailer.
Dealer says they checked with Ram and I'm inside the "normal" range.
To me, it seems really excessive. Thanks goodness it's not real expensive but it is it a royal pain.
When you reference the owners manual you can be lead to believe that one tank of DEF will last past the 7,500 mile service. Don't believe it!
Towing hits it hard.
