Man o' man am I tired of replacing these shift tower boots on this G56. I had my first tower seal rip at 225k miles. Since then I have used every CV boot cheat code on the market. NONE last more than 7-8 months tops. I finally gave up and tried to install a factory seal...... Um.... Am I missing something??? They are just a little too small in diameter to fit. Ive tried every which a way to slide them on. RTV to help it slide. Short of greasing one up, I'm at a loss. I ripped 4 trying to install one. Is there a trick or special install tool? I saw a video online of a tech doing the job and he slid it on like it was nothing... I'm worried about modifying the seal by removing material from the inner mating surface. I heard of putting things in the freezer to shrink them up. Is this a thing with shift towers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My driveway and pocketbook will thank you. BTW, I ordered an updated seal part # 5161544-AA I will try this one then order the one from Genos garage if this one is crap.
