My new Cummins

It’s a 74 D200 that is almost rust free. (Unheard of in northern Saskatchewan) on a 93 W250 chassis. On the 350 mile trip home I got 19mpg at 75-80 mph. My 96 gmc would have been around 12mpg at best. I love this truck. It’s smooth and relatively queit power. I like it better than the 06 mega cab I had. I’ve wanted a 12 valve for years.
this weekend I got the heated seats, pioneer deck, JL amp, amd pioneer truck riders installed.
waiting on my oil pan heater, glow plug relay and temp sender to show up.
Also have a line on a decently priced webasto which I think I’ll put in. It’ll make for easier starts after ice fishing or snowmobiling when it’s -35.

Originally D or W? It has the locking front hubs but is that original to the '74 or come with the '93 conversion? Just wondering if it still has the divorced transfer case.

Welcome to the Forums BTW

thanks. It was a D200. The locking hubs came with the 93 power train. The only 74 is the body

Cool. Did the diesel dash display get incorporated somehow?

Timmytorco 09-29-2022 06:13 AM

No. It has the 74 dash. I’m going to get oil and temp senders from a 360 so the gauges will work. The fuel works with the newer sending unit and old gauge. Overdrive is a toggle switch. Preheat will be a VW glow plug really to a ford starter solenoid with an indicator light on the dash somewhere.

That is how I got my oil pressure and temp to work on my '85 crew cab build. I just took some old 360 Gasser senders out of a spare motor screwed them in to my 12V motor and hooked them up.

Cool looking old Power Wagon.

Yea, I really like that body style. My '77 resembles that still but too many rusted & dented body panels...

So no "wait to Start" or "water in fuel" stuff or will you wire those to just an indicator light too?

Timmytorco 09-30-2022 07:45 AM

The wait to start will be ran by the glow plug relay I’m waiting on. No water in fuel plans as of yet. Could probably wire something up east enough to a warning light I guess. I was more worried about getting the heated seats done before winter.
